Avenger Claim Trail (near Woodland Park, CO) - Trail Information and Map

Located just southeast of Woodland Park, the Avenger Claim Trail follows an enjoyable loop through the forested landscape of the 120-acre Avenger Open Space.

Once a historic mining claim, the property is now permanently protected as public open space and is surrounded by the Pike National Forest.

The trail’s relatively gentle terrain makes it a good choice for hikers and walkers of varying experience levels, including families and visitors looking for a shorter, less strenuous outing near Woodland Park. The area also provides opportunities to enjoy the surrounding forest, mountain scenery, wildlife, and traces of the property’s mining history.

The City of Woodland Park is developing long-term plans for the Avenger Open Space, which may include improvements to trails, access, signage, and recreational facilities. Visitors should watch for changing trail conditions, posted regulations, or temporary restrictions as those plans move forward.
