Red Rock Canyon Open Space( Information, Photos, Videos, & Reviews)
The spectacular Red Rock Canyon Open Space is a 789-acre city park located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
It is situated on the west side of the city, just off of U.S. Route 24 between Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs The park consists of a series of parallel ridges (called "hogbacks") and eroded canyons, a continuation of the same sandstone rocks that make up the "Garden of the Gods" a few miles to the north. The Red Rocks Canyon Open Space trail network is a stunning urban open space that capitalizes on breathtaking views and intriguing geological features. The park contains many miles of trails of varying difficulty that wind through and around the rock formations, and is popular with hikers, joggers, and mountain bikers. These open space trails also connect to the neighboring Intemann Trail and Section 16 / Red Rock Loop Trail.
Technical rock climbing is allowed by permit only. Obtain a permit at the Garden of the Gods Visitor's Center.
