Get Involved in this Year's National Trails Day on Saturday, June 7th 2025

National Trails Day 2025 is scheduled for Saturday, June 7, marking the 33rd annual celebration organized by the American Hiking Society.

This nationwide event encourages individuals of all ages and abilities to engage in outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, paddling, and volunteering for trail maintenance. It's an opportunity to connect with nature, support local trails, and contribute to the preservation of public lands.

In Colorado Springs, the Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) is hosting a volunteer stewardship day on National Trails Day. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the North Campus Heights parking lot near UCCS. Volunteers will assist with trail restoration efforts, including decompacting hardened soils, spreading native grass seed and mulch, transplanting small plants, and reinforcing trail closures. This is a moderately strenuous activity suitable for individuals aged 10 and up. Rocky Mountain Field Institute
