Learn About the "Leave No Trace" Program
The Leave No Trace Program is an environmental education initiative that promotes responsible outdoor recreation through a set of seven principles designed to minimize human impact on nature.
Developed by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, the program encourages people to enjoy the outdoors while preserving it for future generations. The principles include planning ahead, traveling and camping on durable surfaces, disposing of waste properly, leaving what you find, minimizing campfire impacts, respecting wildlife, and being considerate of others. It is widely used by hikers, campers, educators, and land managers across the U.S. and beyond.
