Mount Blue Sky, formerly known as Mount Evans, rises to 14,264 feet in Colorado’s Front Range and is the closest Fourteener to the Denver metropolitan area. Its prominent summit, rugged alpine terrain, and variety of hiking and climbing routes make it one of the most recognizable mountains in Colorado.

The mountain was officially renamed Mount Blue Sky in 2023. The new name honors the Arapaho people, who are also known as the Blue Sky People, and recognizes the mountain’s cultural significance to Indigenous communities.

Mount Blue Sky can be approached from several directions. Routes range from established hiking trails and long backcountry approaches to exposed ridges, steep faces, and seasonal snow climbs. Depending on the route selected, hikers and climbers may encounter high elevations, rapidly changing weather, loose rock, snowfields, and significant exposure.
