Heizer Trail Information (including Photos, Videos and Reviews)
Description: The Heizer Trail is one of the oldest trails in the Pikes Peak region. Although it is not as well known as many of the other trails in the region and is one of the more challenging in regards to elevation gain it is well worth the effort (this trail is rated as moderately difficult and ascends 1,841'). This trail climbs steadily up Cascade Mountain from the trailhead located in the town of Cascade. As you climb up and pass through the first few switchbacks you start to enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding area. This trail is used as an alternative route for summiting Pikes Peak as this trail will eventually connect to the Barr Trail, making it a great way to avoid some of the crowds on the lower portions of Barr Trail.
The Barr Trail is included on POCKET PALS Trail Map # 5. The other trails included on Trail Map #5 are Bob's Road, Barr Trail, Longs Ranch Road, Trail 329, Trail 638, Trail 671, Trail 703, Trail 706, Ute Pass, and Water Pipe.
